Big Moon

The moon was so BIG and gorgeous, just two nights ago. I hadn't noticed it at all actually, until I let Griz out to go potty around 10:30pm.
This is the view from our back deck. So lovely!

We've been doing a lot of work on our yard lately... I've been scrummaging through before and after photos so I can REALLY see the big improvements we've been making.

Although we're not DONE yet, here's a sneak peak at what we've been up to:

BEFORE PICTURE: front yard
AFTER: removed the nasty bushes and put in an encore azalea, a thorsen's weeping hemlock, red dragon/weeping japanese maple and a little evergreen shrub in the front right corner with some ground covers. We also changed our front door, and painted our house trim white. We'll be painting our house blue in late June!

BEFORE PIC: side yard
AFTER: side yard---it's hard to see what we've done & the plants are small right now...over the years they'll mature and get bigger. We removed all the big bushes and put in a few ornamental grasses and a dwarf rhody that has yellow blossoms, we planted another encore azalea, another weeping japanese maple called Orangeola. We have a BABY dappled willow tree that will grow about 8ft tall but right now it's only about 8inches tall :) it's in the far left corner up front.
AFTER PIC: side yard-- the Orangeola (weeping japanese maple) will turn a bright red/orange in the fall. I cannot wait! We are in the process of placing new bark on the dirt...hence the big hump of soil.

BEFORE PIC: front yard little garden (ignore Jason poppin' a wheely)!

AFTER PIC: front yard garden--- we removed all the golden holly bushes and left the rocks,
we moved the mail box over and Jason's Gpa and Dad made our house sign and we put that in the
dirt out front. I planted some tulips from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival :)

BEFORE PIC: backyard--- LOTS of TREES! (11-12 trees)

AFTER PIC in October 2011: we hired a guy & his team to take down the trees...they were ruining the roof and causing mold/dampness so we took 'em out and sold the wood to Jason's aunt who has a wood fireplace in her house. We're in the process of building a new fence...to be continued!

PHEW!
Lots of work..and we've had a TON of help from Jason's parents. Our home still has a long way to go...but it's a process and we've done so much already. It is really rewarding working on your own yard and it's pretty surprising how therapeutic it is to pull weeds!

When people ask, "hey what are you guys doing tonight, or what are your plans for the weekend?"....
Well, now you know! This is what we are doing pretty much 24/7.

Oh!

Last, but not least... I put Griz in Weston's crib the other day after he woke up from a nap, just to see what each of them would do. These are their reactions!

Bahhh, hilarious. Anywho! Enjoy the sunshine ya'll.
